blossom

We were blessed with a lot of rain in January. With the sun out you can almost watch how things are growing. Fields are getting a green coat, the abundance of flowers start to appear and trees start to blossom.
First of all the almond trees (above). They are so lovely. The kids and I saw a beautiful one this morning on our walk.

The kids in the kibbutz wait every year for the wood sorrel to grow. They like to chew the sour stems. I actually like them too. Most of the wood sorrel in the kibbutz have yellow flowers but there are some spots with pink ones as above.

Over the years large patches of anemones developed inside the kibbutz. They were planted to start with and we still add some here and there but they also reproduce themselves. Some places like in the entrance of the kibbutz (above... soon there will be even more flowers) got kind of famous through the media. This fame can become a problem. People come, step on the flowers, place themselves in the middle of the patch to take photographs and destroy some of the beauty. We had to put up signs to remind visitors to not step on the flowers.

Also in the wild outside the kibbutz the anemones appear now and dot the fields with red, white and purple spots.

The cyclamen are also putting on a show. I not only like the flower but also the leaves. It is said that each leave has a very unique pattern and none of them are identical.
