Ranunculus asiaticus
I love those flowers! The many colours, the shades within some of the petals, the happy feeling they give.
The ranunculus asiaticus- or persian buttercup are in full bloom. There are some that are for years in the ground and others we planted fresh during winter (late October to early January)
Ranunculus means "little frog" in Latin and probably refers to the fact that many species can be found near water, like frogs.
The wild version of the ranunculus can be found in the fields near the kibbutz. They are red and have only one row of petals. The wild ranunculus asiaticus is a protected flower in Israel. (picture from wikipedia)
As the days will get hotter soon, they will sadly wilt and we will have to wait until next year to enjoy their blossom.
